Environmental Policy

MCL is committed to buying all timber from legal sources, and will seek evidence that suppliers are in compliance with this policy

We will, where possible, purchase timber covered by the following independent certifications :-

When independent certification is not possible for whatever reason MCL seeks assurances from suppliers that the timber is from a well managed and sustainable source.
MCL expects all suppliers to maintain high environmental standards inrespect of goods and services.
We will provide suppliers environmental policies on request.

It is our belief that Timber is an environmentally sound material, requiring less energy per m³ to produce. From properly managed sources it is a renewable product and as such is often considered far more environmentally acceptable than plastics, concrete and steel which are not sustainable.
Certified timber can be more expensive and not always available to the correct specification and quality, flexibility is required when looking for an independently certified option.
